Free Flow V Notch Trapezoidal Flumes Free Flow V Notch Trapezoidal flumes are designed for open channel flow measurement in irrigation channels, small streams and non-pressurized pipelines. They are most often used for relatively low flow applications. The V Notch Trapezoidal flumes allow a relatively large flow rate to be measured with a
small change in head. The flat bottom simplifies installation into existing channels.
Debris accumulation upstream of the flume and in the flume is also reduced. Free Flow V Notch Trapezoidal flumes are fabricated in several methods of construction
and options to facilitate their installation and use. Model RC, Ruggedized Construction is intended for free standing, above grade installation. Special vinyl ester resin or stainless steel construction are available for enhanced resistance to specific chemical and elevated temperatures. Flush mounted head gauges allow the depth, discharge and possible submerged flow conditions of the flume to be checked at any instant. Gauges are available in Feet, by 1/10th & 1/100th. Stilling wells provide a large calm area where the depth is easily measured. 8" or 12" dia. wells are available. The stilling well will extend 4" below the floor of the flume. Inlet & outlet pipe connections allow the flume to be easily installed in a pipeline. Connection to pipes can be made by either flexible neoprene couplings or flat face fiberglass pipe flanges. Very low flows with low velocity do not require long inlet & outlet connections but higher flow rates required good approach conditions for accurate flow measurement. V Notch Trapezoidal flumes are available in three sizes: Small, Large, & Extra
Large. |
