Free Flow Weirbox Typical Specifications

There shall be supplied a Free Flow Model SC V notch weir box. The weir box shall be __ ft. long x __ ft. wide x __ ft. deep.

Weir box to be molded in one piece of reinforced polyester fiberglass with 1/4" minimum wall thickness. Wetted surfaces shall have smooth white gel-coat finish; exterior surfaces shall have gel-coat finish & "V" shaped reinforcing ribs to prevent distortion during shipment, installation and operation. Weir box shall be self supporting and require no external supporting structure during installation.

A ____degree V notch weir plate, __ inches deep, fabricated from _______ shall be mounted in the weir box. The V notch shall be precision fabricated with a 1/16" long crest and a 60 degree bevel downstream of the crest. The upstream face of the weir plate shall be flat and smooth. The junction of the upstream face and the crest shall have a sharp 90 degree angle.

Head gauge: There shall be supplied a head gauge attached to the weir box sidewall ___" upstream of the weir plate. The gauge shall be fiberglass laminate construction (or 316 SS). Gauge markings shall be in feet, by 1/10th & 1/100th of a foot. Gauge markings shall be protected by a 1/16" clear fiberglass laminate. The gauge shall be secured in plate by stainless steel bolts, threaded into stainless steel thread inserts in the sidewall, such that the gauge may be zeroed in the field.

Anchor clips: There shall be provided fiberglass anchor clips permanently attached to weir box exterior. Clips shall have 1/2" dia. hole for wire securing weir box to reinforcing bar embedded in concrete.

Ultrasonic Transducer Mounting Bracket: There shall be supplied with the weir box, an elevation adjustable bracket, fabricated from 316 SS piping & alloy fittings with a _____ female NPT conn. to the transducer. All fasteners shall be stainless steel.

Bubbler tubes: There shall be provided a 316 SS bubbler tube of 1/2" O.D. at the depth measuring station. Weir box shall have a zero stop to insure correct placement of bubbler tube.

There shall be a permanently attached stilling well of_____(8" or 12") diameter at the depth gauging location. The connecting port shall be a 2" dia. hole with a passage length of not longer that 3/4". The well shall have a top flange to facilitate the installation of depth gauging equipment.

Baffle Plate and Slide Track: There shall be supplied a slide track on the sidewalls & floor of weir box, located 1 ft. downstream of the weir box inlet. A removable baffle plate shall be supplied to fit in the slide track. The baffle plate shall be of fiberglass construction with vertical slots and handles at the top.

Inlet & Outlet Connectors: There shall be provided an inlet and outlet connection at each end of the weir box.
The connections shall be:
- Grouting collars of ______ dia. to allow the installation of _____O.D. pipe.
- Fiberglass flat face pipe flanges for ____” line size, with a bolt circle & diameter to match standard 125 lb. flange dimensions.
- Neoprene couplings with stainless steel band clamps and pipe stubs to connect to _____O.D. piping.

The inverts of the pipe stub end connections shall be set per the engineer's specified elevations.

 

Free Flow Typical Specifications for Weir Plates

There shall be supplied a Free Flow V Notch weir plate. The weir plate shall have a notch angle of___ degrees and a notch depth of____. The plate shall have overall dimensions of_____inches high x ______ inches wide.

The weir plate shall be fabricated from (reinforced polyester fiberglass, aluminum, or 304 stainless steel). The plate shall have a minimum thickness of 1/4 inch with a smooth upstream face and reinforcing on the downstream side as required.

The V Notch of fiberglass weir plates shall be a precision molded notch with a sharp upstream edge, the junction of the plate's upstream face and notch shall be a 90 degree angle with respect to the upstream face of the plate, the notch shall have a 1/16" long bevel, and a downstream chamfer of 45 degrees or 60 degrees. The notch shall have a maximum depth of 12 inches.

The V Notch of aluminum or stainless steel weir plates shall be a machined notch with a sharp upstream edge, the junction of the plate's upstream face and notch shall be a 90 degree angle with respect to the upstream face of the plate, the notch shall have a 1/1619 long bevel, and a downstream chamfer of 45 degrees. The sides and bottom of the weir plate shall have (3/8" or 1/2”) diameter holes spaced on ____ inch centers.

The weir plate shall be supplied with ______(fiberglass, aluminum, stainless steel) angle of 2" x 2” x 1/4" with holes drilled to match those of the weir plate to allow mounting the plate in a channel with a height of inches and a width of____ inches.

There shall be supplied with the weir plate a 316 stainless steel depth gauge to be mounted (by customer or contractor) upstream of the weir plate at a distance at least times the depth of the weir notch. The gauge shall be supplied with elongated holes to allow the elevation of the gauge to be adjusted up or down 1/4". The gauge shall be set at an elevation such that the gauge zero is exactly even with the bottom of the weir's V Notch. The depth markings on the gauge shall be laser cut through the gauge for long term durability. The marking shall be in units of feet by 1/10th & 100th of a foot.
