Typical Specifications for Free Flow Trapezoidal Flumes
with 60 Degree V Notch Throat

There shall be supplied a Free Flow Model (small or large, or extra large) 60 Degree V Notch Trapezoidal flume. The Small flume shall have a height of 4". The Large flume shall have a height of 6 3/4" The Extra Large flume shall have a height of 12”.

Flume to be molded in one piece of reinforced polyester fiberglass with 1/4" minimum wall thickness. Wetted surfaces shall have smooth white gel-coat finish; exterior surfaces shall have gel-coat finish. Flume shall be self supporting and require no external supporting structure during installation.

Internal dimensions of the small and large flume shall conform to those developed by A.R. Robinson & A.R. Chamberlain, Published in the TRANSACTIONS of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers, Vol.3, No. 2 (1960).

Head gauges: Head gauges shall be flush molded into flume sidewall at time of manufacture. Gauge markings shall be protected by a 1/16" clear fiberglass laminate. Depth markings shall be in feet by 1/10 ft. & 1/100 ft.

Anchor clips: There shall be provided fiberglass anchor clips permanently attached to flume exterior. Clips shall have 1/2" dia. hole for wire securing flume to reinforcing bar embedded in concrete.

Ultrasonic Transducer Mounting Bracket: There shall be supplied with the flume, an elevation adjustable bracket, fabricated from 316 SS piping & alloy fittings with a _____ female NPT conn. to the transducer. All fasteners shall be stainless steel.

Bubbler tubes: There shall be provided a flush mounted 304 SS bubbler tube of 1/2" O.D. at the H1 measuring station. Bubbler tube opening shall be set in flume wall such that water depths down to zero flow may be measured.

Sensor Cavity & "Z" Bracket: There shall be provided a sensor cavity and stainless steel “Z" bracket to allow flush mount installation and easy removal of a submerged pressure sensor manufactured by _________. The bracket, cavity & sidewall “D" track shall allow routing the cable out of the flume with the bracket, sensor and cable all flush with flume wall & floor.

There shall be a permanently attached stilling well of_____(8" or 12") diameter at H1(& H2) positions. The well shall extend 4" below the crest of the flume. The connecting port shall be a 1" dia. hole. The well shall have a top flange to facilitate the installation of depth gauging equipment.

Inlet & Outlet Transitions: There shall be provided an inlet and outlet transition of the same materials of construction and finish as the flume. The adapters shall be provided with:
- Grouting collars of ______ dia. to allow the installation of _____O.D. pipe.
- Fiberglass flat face pipe flanges for____"line size, with a bolt circle & diameter to match standard 125 lb. flange dimensions.
- Neoprene couplings with stainless steel band clamps and pipe stubs to connect to _____O.D. piping.

The inverts of the pipe stub end connections on the inlet and outlet transitions shall be set per the engineer's specified elevations.
